Although at the present time, in Italy, design verification is an obligation only in the public sector, it is an increasingly used tool also in the private sector, especially for larger works, as it is able to foresee design errors that could have heavy consequences both in terms of time and costs. It develops through a discussion with the designer, who must ensure that the project corresponds to a series of requirements and that it complies with the regulations. This process must be carried out by accredited Independent Inspection Bodies, which guarantee speed, competence and efficiency to achieve the desired results, that is a final report that establishes or not the conformity of a project.
Since it is necessary that everything that is foreseen and analyzed in the design phase must then be implemented and monitored also in the executive phase, the third party who carried out the design checks should support the Client also during the actual construction, as it has maximum knowledge of the project. Among the elements to be subjected to control and monitoring are the quality levels, compliance with the expected implementation times and costs, but it is also necessary to identify the emerging risks and change strategies when and if necessary precisely by virtue of these.
The unforeseen events to be taken into account include malfunctions and breakdowns of the construction site machines and vehicles.
